I have been listening to KZOK since high school. I remember finding the FM band on my radio back in 73 or 74 sitting in my bed room and listening to Robin Trower thinking it was some lost Jimmy Hendrix tapes. Even before that I recall Gary Crow on a KTAC a Tacoma AM radio station.
One Halloween a car load of young adults decided to travel from Olympia to Seattle to see a show in a big concrete building. It was Pier 73 I believe, and we saw The Greg Allman Band. The mc's for the show was former KZOK DJ Robin Erickson (in a little Bo Peep costume), and a much younger Gary Crow. Needless to say I had a great time and found myself in the embrace of a lovely young lady at the conclusion of the show.
I have been a loyal listener since the 70's and have participated in many KZOK events. The last one being Crow's Celebrity Seafood Classic where I met and golfed with Arik from The Bob Rivers Show and actually Partnered up with Curelop (the big boss at KZOK). We didn't win but had a great time. I managed to meet Allen White, Gary Justis, Goldy Cohn and had a great conversation with Spike and The one and only Gary Crow. Both are great guys and easy to talk to.
I have also shared a friendship with the night guy, Dale Roberts. We grew up in the same town and share many mutual friends. KZOK is an old friend which I rarely miss a day. Between Bob, Spike, Joe, Mike, Arik, Kaci, Crow and the rest of the crew they make my day.
