I grew up in Missoula, MT (go ahead--bring on the sheep jokes) and lived there until moving to Seattle in Feb of 1997 to pursue my now semi-failed music career. Yep, I’ve been a drummer since age 8, or as some would say, “a guy who likes to hang out with musicians.” The most notable band I played in was a hard rock act called Kidd Wikkid, whose CD now sells for completely outrageous sums of money on Ebay for some reason. Shortly after arriving in Seattle I sold out to “the man,” cut my long curly locks (spiral perms were all the rage back then), and decided I was going to “straighten myself out.” I enrolled in Bellevue Community College in pursuit of a computer science degree. That lasted all of about two years and the rest is history. Well, maybe not history but you get the picture.
Since 1998 I’ve worked in various capacities at KYCW, KYPT, KMPS, and KJAQ. I’m honored to work with and learn from the best in the biz--radio legends Gary Crow, Steve Slaton, the Bob Rivers crew, and Carey Curelop, as well as everyone else at KZOK.
My iPod is loaded up with everything from Van Halen to Muse to Duran Duran to Dwight Yoakam. Oh and just to get a rise out of Vanderpool, I’ve got Dokken, Whitesnake and Journey on there, too. What can I say, I’m a child of the 80’s.
If I wasn’t in radio, I’d probably be handing out free samples at your local grocery store. |
